Hi, my name is Stephanie. I am a registered nurse with a bachelor’s in science in nursing. To be honest, being in front of the camera or a crowd gives me a great deal of anxiety. I’ve been a nurse for well over 20 years with experience in a variety of settings including the hospital, skilled nursing, home health, long term care, and hospice. I also have a specialty in Dialysis. As I gained my experience and moved up the ladder in leadership roles, my pay never allowed me to have time freedom and financial freedom. I found myself working overtime and weekends for extra pay. I worked holidays while my friends and family enjoyed precious moments together.

After 15 years of working tirelessly, I began to realize that no matter how many hours I worked my income would be capped. Holidays and weekends with my family and friends were a hope and a prayer at best. Planning a vacation would depend on how quickly I got my request into management and how well we were staffed.

If I wanted a day off to go to an event for my son, I would have to ask other employees to switch shifts with me and hope that I could find someone willing to sacrifice their time to help me, or deal with my disappointment of missing that special moment as well as the disappointment my son would feel because mommy wasn’t there.

Even as I moved into Executive Leadership roles, I was unable to step away from work. While I had more flexibility, I was always available to the company. I would take calls in the evenings and over weekends while ignoring my son who desperately wanted and needed my time.

I was never able to turn work off. I was sacrificing my life to run someone else’s company. I was sacrificing special moments with my family while giving the owners time freedom and financial freedom. I was building their business so that they could one day sell it and retire on the beach. I was killing myself to fulfill their dreams.

This was when I realized that I had to do something to change my circumstances.

I am now running a successful company that is thriving with happy employees and clients. I determine my business hours. I decide when I take my vacations. I no longer work on holidays or weekends.
